Took a quick spin out at lunchtime for a stroll in Marlay Park in Rathfarnham. As the path ended and circled back I nearly missed this great waterfall. It's about 6 foot high hidden behind a little stone bridge and even this late in the year had nice foliage on the bushes and trees surrounding it.
The other great thing about this time in the year is the sun is lower in the sky and was just shining through the trees creating nice lighting and contrast in the scene. I scramble down the side of the little bridge so i was seated under the waterfall and to get a pleasing composition with foreground rocks and water flowing by with the waterfall in the upper part of the image.
Making the most of the quickly changing light I set up tripod and tried a few different compositions and some close in shots of the water cascading down. The slightly long shutter speed helped give the water a silky white look which I like.
What a great way to spend a half hour at lunch. As I left another photographer arrived on the bridge taking pictures, but unfortunately for him the lighting had changed and was duller due to sun rapidly moving behind some trees. Obviously a popular spot and I can see why.
