It was such a pleasure being asked to photograph the big day for Deirdre and Kyle. They are so down to earth and made me feel absolutely welcome even seating me for dinner with the family who were a blast!

The wedding was being held in Bennekerry, in a lovely little church near Deirdre's family home, with the reception in the magnificent Step House Hotel in Borris, a 30 minute drive away. As I hadn't been in either location before I decided I'd leave early go to the hotel and meet with Kyle get some location images out of the way and generally get familiar with the place. This meant 8.30am on the road even though the wedding was only starting at 1.30pm. I always feel its important to go the extra mile!

After taking pictures of the hotel, the reception area, the rings, and the magnificent Penthouse suite, I headed on the 30 (edit 45 min that's another story) drive to Deirdre's house. Immediately welcomed in and given a cup of tea and some breakfast. Great start :). Deirdre was away at the hairdressers so I took some candid pictures, detail shots of the flowers, and some family portraits. When Deirdre arrived we took some more portraits with her family.

Next stop meet Kyle at the church, for some images with guests and his best man. Deirdre arrived fashionably late and we had a few quick pics of herself and her dad and the bridesmaids then inside for the ceremony. A beautiful ceremony which was emotional and fun, piano falling to the floor with a bang comes to mind. Nothing could stop this loving couple enjoying the day.

Following the ceremony we headed to the reception in Step House Hotel. You could drive by the hotel and not realize it was there, yet go inside and it is absolutely captivating. Logs on the fire, 18th century fireplaces and fixtures, art on the walls, it was immaculate and hosted by very pleasant staff. Before dinner we took advantage of the location for a few more pictures of the happy couple both in the hotel and across the road outside Borris Castle.

Dinner was great and the folks at the table were great fun. Some images of the speeches, and the first dance and then I stayed until the dancing was well and truly underway, with music courtesy of Firestar, young and not so young got into the spirit. Looked like a great night ahead and perhaps a few sore heads in the morning but sure why not.

Congrats Kyle and Deirdre!!!
